CASA Fashion Show

The CASA spring fashion show is an annual production held at the Los Gatos High School. Student and local celebrity models feature fashions for every day people, generously loaned by clothing stores in our area. The models are trained and practice, making this a first rate show where the participants have just as much fun as the audience. The show takes place each March and is open to the public. Tickets are available through CASA.

Teen Social Events at The Venue

The former Friday Night Live Club for high school students has been replaced by social events co-sponsored by CASA and The Venue, A Place for Teens. CASA helps fund certain events for high school students at The Venue, such as the 5th Quarter dances after home football games, and ski trips. These events are safe, fun, and sober. CASA also hosts a spring social just for middle school students at The Venue.

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign against drug abuse which promotes education, prevention and healthy lifestyle choices that help young people to resist drugs and alcohol. CASA sponsors annual participation in Red Ribbon week at local elementary and middle schools. Students participate in activities centered on healthy lifestyle choices, and students wearing Red Ribbon Week wristbands receive great discounts at participating businesses in the town of Los Gatos.

Drug Awareness Week

High school and middle school students participate in raising awareness about drugs and alcohol through a variety of activities. CASA sponsors Drug Awareness week every year, and would like to thank Happy Hound for their generous co- sponsorship of Drug Awareness Week in 2010.

The Parenting Continuum

CASA is one of the founders and sponsors of The Parenting Continuum which is a partnership among several organizations that provides education through a series of programs for parents and families, to teach, support, and nurture family relationships. Programs are free unless otherwise specified, and topics range from “Sex Education—Family Talk,” “Staying in Touch with your Teen,” and “Parenting Children of Divorce Families.” 2009-2010 calendar of topics and speakers

S.T.E.P. Parenting Class

Systematic Training for Effective Parenting is an interactive eight week course for parents to learn new and effective tools to better parent their teens and improve relationships. Advance reservations are requested and there is a fee which includes the cost of the workbook. Classes are offered every spring by CASA and The Parenting Continuum.

Los Gatos Children’s Holiday Parade

Fisher Middle School students have fun creating a theme and making a float to participate in the annual children’s holiday parade, representing CASA.

Other Ways CASA Supports our Youth

CASA helps fund Los Gatos High School events such as Challenge Day and D.U.I. Trials, provides grants to student leadership club, and awards scholarships to graduating seniors who have shown commitment and participation in supporting CASA’s efforts at the high school. CASA thanks Henry Castaniada for for providing Grad Nite scholarships for the senior class of 2010!
